Welcome to Photobears! We are the joint student chapter of the SPIE (International Society for Optical Engineering) and OSA (Optical Society of America) at the University of California, Berkeley. The club is student-operated by individuals who are dedicated to advancing the field of optics. Our members are affiliated with several departments on campus including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Vision Science and Optometry. We are devoted to helping the optics community on campus.

11.18.2009 Photobears sponsored optics mixer, 5:30 - 6:30 pm, 545 Cory Hall. All students, faculty and staff working or interested in optics are invited. There will be food, wine, along with a brief presentation about photobears and its research groups.

Congratulations to Volker Sorger (Vice-President for SPIE 08/09) for winning the BACUS Photomask Scholarship. Chris Clifford, Kaccie Li and Marshal Miller also won SPIE scholarships.
